Chilean pulp producer Celulosa Arauco y Constantituci ó n (Arauco) temporarily suspended production at its Alto Paran á pulp mill in the Argentine province of Misiones on March 3 due to a problem with its turbine generator.
Alto Paran á factory produces 350000 tons of bleached softwood pulp and fluff pulp annually. Arauco explained to EUWID that the pulp mill is expected to stop production until the first week of April. The company did not comment on the resulting production losses.
Arauco operates pulp mills in Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay. After Arauco’s new bleached eucalyptus sulfate (BEK) pulp production line was put into production in Chile, the group’s total capacity was close to 4.5 million tons per year.
