GP Cellulose invested about US $80 million to increase the production capacity of fluff pulp in the Alabama River plant in the United States. The project is being implemented in stages and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
The Alabama River Plant has two pulp production lines, one of which currently only produces packaged paper pulp. After investment and transformation, the production line will also be able to produce curly fluff pulp. In 2011, another production line of the factory has been upgraded, which can simultaneously produce packaged paper pulp and coiled fluff pulp.
The main part of the project has been completed, including the investment in the convection box and the forming department. The final phase is in progress, including infrastructure and coiling and packaging components. According to the plan, the newly upgraded production line will be able to produce fluff pulp by the end of 2023.
