In order to solve the problem of supply of raw materials for papermaking, the Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA) recently insisted that the Indian government allow enterprises to plant pulping wood on degraded land and available land near pulp and paper mills.
For a long time, the Indian paper industry has been facing the problem of insufficient supply of raw materials. The Indian Paper Manufacturers Association hopes to solve the problem of raw materials and increase the area of green vegetation in China.
In the document submitted to the Ministry of finance, the association said that raw material safety is very necessary for the Indian paper industry to achieve self-sufficiency. As a country lacking wood fiber, the shortage of raw material supply has been the main restrictive factor for the domestic paper industry to improve the pulp and paper production capacity.
In this regard, Mr. a s Mehta, President of the association, also said: “we sincerely hope that the government will consider our proposal to provide degraded land to the paper industry for the planting of pulping wood, so that the paper industry can restore the function of degraded land by expanding the plantation area, help India achieve the goal of increasing green coverage and further improve the international status of India’s paper industry.”
The Association believes that in the past few years, in order to solve the problem of raw materials, the overall investment in India’s paper industry has reached 250 billion rupees, but the shortage of raw materials has not been solved so far. This time, the paper industry hopes to build a “green India” and contribute to the national strategic goal of achieving 33% vegetation coverage.
