According to Russian media reports, the size of the Russian food packaging market is currently 1.3 trillion rubles, which may reach 1.7 trillion rubles by the end of 2025, of which more than 50% are environmentally friendly products.

According to the data released by the Agricultural Bank of Russia, 80-85% of food packaging products are produced by local enterprises in Russia, of which paper packaging accounts for 36%, plastic packaging accounts for 38%, metal (tin and aluminum) packaging accounts for 10%, and glass packaging accounts for 12%.

Agricultural Bank of Russia said that food packaging is one of the fastest growing economic sectors in Russia. It is estimated that from 2023 to 2025, food packaging production will grow steadily, with an annual increase of 8-10%. At the same time, the production of environment-friendly packaging is accelerating. The packaging of environmentally friendly food in Russia should meet the standards of safety, recyclability, reusability and biodegradability. Food packaging manufacturers are responsible for the recycling of environmentally friendly products and provide solutions from production to recycling.

Agricultural Bank of Russia believes that environmental protection packaging is a relatively new market, with a global market scale of about 300 billion dollars. Large packaging manufacturers in Russia are responsible for participating in the environmental protection packaging market.
