Recently, due to the sharp rise in raw materials and processing costs and the risk of interruption of raw materials at any time, Indian corrugated box manufacturers have urged their customers to raise purchase prices.
Call on customers to increase the purchase price by 35%
In an article published in a major Indian newspaper, the Indian corrugated box manufacturers association (iccma) said that due to the rising prices of paper and processing inputs, the corrugated paper and carton processing industry is suffering a heavy blow and there is an urgent need to raise the price of finished products.
The corrugated box manufacturers association called on its customers to increase the purchase price by 35% to offset the impact of the rise in kraft paper and processing costs, so as to maintain the normal production and operation of the existing corrugated packaging factories, otherwise most factories will be forced to close.
The price of raw materials has risen sharply
It is understood that the corrugated box industry in India is facing pressure due to the sharp rise in costs and the interruption of raw material supply. According to industry sources, the severe shortage of raw materials and unprecedented price increases have pushed manufacturers to the brink of bankruptcy. Kraft paper is the main raw material of the industry. Its price has soared by nearly 90% – 100% since 2020 and has risen by nearly 25% in the past few months alone.
Therefore, in this appeal to customers to increase the purchase price of cartons, the Indian corrugated box manufacturers association stressed the importance of the industry. The association said that the corrugated box manufacturing industry is an environmental protection industry, which consumes about 7.5 million tons of recycled kraft paper every year and produces 100% recyclable corrugated boxes, with a market scale of about 400 billion rupees. The industry employs more than 700000 workers in India and plays a key role in the Indian economy.
The corrugated box manufacturers association of India also said that the association not only provides sustainable packaging for all manufactured products, but also is essential to realize the “made in India dream” put forward by the Indian government.
