Recently, the international paper industry has continuously expanded its investment in the field of packaging paper. On December 15, 2021, international paper said it planned to build a state-of-the-art corrugated packaging plant in atglen, Pennsylvania in 2022, which is expected to bring about 150 new jobs to the region.
Peter heist, regional vice president of international paper, said that the carton factory will expand the industrial packaging footprint of international paper to southeast Pennsylvania and northeast America. The construction of the plant will start in the first quarter of 2022 and is expected to be fully operational in the first quarter of 2023.
In addition, in early December of the same year, international paper announced to invest US $40 million in its corrugated packaging plants in France and Spain, put into operation new production lines and improve the old production lines, so as to improve its production capacity in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It is expected that after all production is put into operation, the production capacity will increase by 10%, so as to better serve the e-commerce packaging field in these regions.
International paper said that at present, e-commerce packaging accounts for 10% of the demand for corrugated packaging in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and is growing at a double-digit percentage. Therefore, the investment is of great strategic significance to the company.
