The shortage of tampons has put pressure on consumers across the United States, which is the result of the same forces that have plagued the global economy – from soaring raw material and fuel costs to labor shortages and troubled supply chains – experts say there are no signs of relief at present. According to nielseniq, the average cost of a bag of tampons has increased by nearly 10% in the past year, while the price of a bag of sanitary napkins has increased by 8.3%.
Vaughn Moore, CEO of AIT worldwide logistics, said that if manufacturers can no longer guarantee the availability of products, the situation will only get worse as time goes by and the retail season approaches.
